The Australian Wild Horse Research Institute combines direct field observation with population data, published research and government records to examine how statistical estimates correspond with conditions observed on the ground.

Field research can document individual Brumbies, family mobs, population distribution, behaviour, movement, habitat use, body condition, welfare and interactions within the landscape.
